February 2003 - Oregon Trail Electric Cooperative is offering a green power option to its 25,000 members in eastern Oregon. Under the program, customers can purchase 200-kWh blocks of wind power for an additional $3.00 each month, or 1.5¢/kWh. To supply the program, the co-op has contracted with the Bonneville Power Administration for wind power generated by facilities located in the Pacific Northwest. In the three months since the program began operation, the utility has sold more than 80% of the available green power blocks. Participants are required to sign up for a period of one year.
